My rating: 4 of 5 stars
She’s right where the Universe intends her to be. But, she still has a lot to learn. The curriculum is fast-paced and hands-on for Alexa’s first year at Willow Glen Academy of Witchcraft. Add to that time-travel trips to Ireland and visits to a demon dimension and Alexa has a lot on her plate right now.
Alexa’s personal life is complicated as she struggles to keep her forbidden love of Quinn a secret from everyone. She also must learn about her Donnii heritage from an Irish Donnii in 1349, during the outbreak of the Bubonic Plague. Full hazmat suit, anyone?
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Series: 2nd in The Lux Seekers series
Length: 230 pages (print length)
Ian and I have been spending quality time bonding with our parents, getting to know each other as a family again.
All the Seekers have been spending time at the Nexus. Nox’s music collection and library rocks! Yes, I love books. Get over it.
Mom is taking me to register for classes and shopping at Potions ‘R Us today.
The second book of The Lux Seekers series reunites us with Alexa and the other Seekers. She and her brother Ian are to join Willow Glen Academy of Witchcraft. The other Seekers teach their craft – including Quinn. Her visit to 1349 Ireland is trying. I will not tell you more about the story than shown in the Goodreads plot description. This would spoil the fun of reading this book yourself.
With Book of Shadows, Willow A. Renner has created an intriguing second instalment of The Lux Seekers series. It is a very enjoyable read. Again I was drawn into the story like an invisible guest, feeling rather close to Alexa and the events. Book of Shadows is a convincing continuation of The Lux Seekers series with excursions to historic Ireland in the times of the plague. It is a fast read, appealing not only to readers who appreciate the young adult fantasy genre.
This book is the second instalment of a pretty promising YA series; a book and/or series to read again.
