When he pulled himself up, he saw a man in his late fifties with flowing white hair, standing in a circle of white and blue light in the middle of the room. He looked quite formidable in his long black robe. “You killed her,” said the man.
Forever Mortal continues the story of Madeline and Ciaran – seamlessly taking over from Random Psychic. Her friend Jo is once again forced to use her computing genius, in order to locate a certain crucifix. Her adventure is a fun mix of urban fantasy, thriller and paranormal romance; the book has a pleasant flow. The genres are well balanced.
With Forever Mortal, D. N. Leo has created the entertaining second instalment of the A Shade of Mind series, the characters aren’t described in too much detail, you could imagine them in the first instalment and get to know them better as the story proceeds. D. N. Leo takes us once again on a journey, pretty close to Madeline. There are some revelations and twists, taking up previous bits and pieces. Questions I asked myself before were answered, new questions arose. I am confident, that these new questions will be solved accordingly with the upcoming third instalment. I was drawn into the story as an invisible observer. Forever Mortal is a good read for urban fantasy suspense fans, appreciating a touch of paranormal romance.
This is a very pleasant read, a great sequel to Random Psychic.
