A mysterious killer who calls himself The Artist is assassinating lawyers in San Francisco. When photo-journalist Jake Wolfe accidentally takes his picture during a murder, The Artist adds Jake to his kill list and he becomes a target in a deadly game of cat and mouse that only one of them can survive. How far would you go to protect the lives of your family and friends from a killer? How many laws would you break? Would you risk your own life, or deliberately take the life of a murderer? Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie explores these life or death questions in a thrilling story about a reluctant, flawed hero. Jake is a veteran who wants to leave his secretive past life behind him but who finds that he can’t ignore his duty and his personal moral compass.
This fast-paced novel features a cast of quirky well-rounded characters, each with their own individual idiosyncrasies; including several feisty strong-willed women, two smart-mouthed San Francisco Police Homicide Inspectors, one highly intelligent dog, and a philosophical killer who shares Jake’s admiration for Van Gogh paintings. As Jake gets closer to unraveling a merciless conspiracy, his life gets turned upside down and the danger level increases, adding to the growing suspense in this entertaining page-turner. A good read for those who enjoy mystery, suspense, action, unique characters, witty dialogue and some romance too. On sale in over a dozen countries around the world. |Series:||Jake Wolfe, #1|
Judging by the sound of the suppressed shot, and the direction and angle that it appeared to have come from, Jake figured that the shooter was probably up in a tree, over in the woods area of the golf course. He used his camera to scan the area, and he saw a brief flash of light as the sun reflected off the glass lens of a rifle scope. Then he saw the killer, up in a tree, aiming the rifle right at him.
Not good, not good at all.
This book introduces you to Jake Wolfe photo-journalist and veteran.
With Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie, Mark Nolan has created a gripping thriller with highly realistic characters and a touch of romance. It is a compelling read, keeping you firmly in its grip. The characters are believable and complex; thriller fans will love to follow Jake through the story. Mark Nolan draws you close to the protagonists and their mindsets while the story evolves. I was drawn close to Jake – a man with a sense of duty and justice, past experiences, and love and respect for dogs. The characters are complex, believable with their flaws and/or virtues. I am thrilled that this book is the first in a series; Jake Wolfe and his allies are an interesting bunch. I loved it – a real page turner.
This is a book for you if you like thrillers, complex characters, justice, dogs, and if you do not mind a certain amount of gore.
