Vivien Morse, a young social worker is discovered battered to death in Silver Lady Woods. Everyone assumes she was attacked by her estranged husband until her supervisor disappears. The connection appears to be Vivien’s last client. A damaged and disturbed girl who believes a bundle of rags is her lost baby and never leaves the family farm while she awaits the return of her lover.
The matter is confused by the arrival of a stranger to the area clearly searching for something or someone and an escaped convict with connections to the area.
DCI Hatherall has to separate fact from fantasy to discover who did kill Vivien Morse.

Peter tapped his lips with his index finger deep in thought. “An odd place for someone dressed for the office to be wandering about, especially considering the wet weather last night. Although if I remember right, it did clear up for a few hours about tea time.”
This book reunites the readers with DCI Hatherall and DI Fiona Wiliams as they try to solve the murder of a social worker.
With Who Killed Vivien Morse, Diana J. Febry has once again created a thrilling British mystery with expertly woven plot lines. It is a compelling read, drawing you close to DCI Hatherall and DI Wiliams as they proceed with their investigation. Diana J. Febry paints a clear picture of the main characters’ mindsets while the story evolves. I was drawn close to Peter and Fiona and – enjoyed deeper insights in some bizarre characters. They are of sufficient depth, believable with their flaws and virtues. The story is a very nicely woven combination of British mystery and human behaviour, and has a wonderful flow; it was easy to get hooked.
This is a book for you if you like (British) mysteries with thorough investigation, calm and impressive storytelling, as well as complex and believable characters.
The excellent fourth book in the DCI Hatherall series!
