Where are the children hidden? Psychopathic serial killer Benjamin Russo is on-the-run. He sends Detective Ted Collins a handwritten greeting, smeared with blood, in an attempt to send the police and FBI on a wild goose chase. Little does he know the truth will be revealed from the prophetic dreams of Denny Ryder and five-year-old Clarissa, who almost succumbed to death for the experimental program of a mad genius. But the messages and communications don’t stop there! Will Russo be taken into custody and stop the killing of innocent, young children or will the Stroke of Innocence be shattered?

Kirk exhaled a loud sigh, “I hate to at 1:00 a.m., but…”
“Yes,” Sophia agreed. “Clarissa, honey, I’m going to call Mrs. Ryder. Would you like that?”
“Yeah, Mommy, please,” the child pleaded. “The read-haired lady will know if it’s real or not.”
This book finds serial killer Benny Russo planning to get his hunters off his track. Denny Ryder and Clarissa continue having their visions.
With Stroke of Innocence!, Deborah A. Bowman continues her quite intriguing paranormal crime series. It is an unusual and compelling read, drawing you into Denny’s world. Deborah A. Bowman paints a clear picture of Denny’s mind while the story evolves. Denny is likeable, complex, and visibly suffering from what she has to experience during her visions; her allies and friends – even if they have only minor roles – become more and more important for the readers. The readers inevitably also gain deeper insights in Benny Russo’s mindset. The story has a steady pace, comprises interesting turns, and has a really good flow. I really appreciate the author’s reason for writing this series: Raising awareness!
This is a book for you if you like fantasy and paranormal crime series in novella format, psychology, and if you like female characters with a mission, as well as food for thought.
Interesting quote from the author’s Afterword: “This fourth novella starts a new trilogy that will delve into the research of the psychopathic and sociopathic minds. This series is appropriate for ages 12 and above. If we can stop even one abduction and cruel death by informing our children what to listen and look out for from people they don’t know or even people they may see every day, it is so worth it to read and discuss this information as a family.”
