Getting in shape isn’t an easy walk in the park…
Running junkie Katie Carpenter takes a tumble down a ravine and ends up facedown in the Hudson River. The police conclude her death was an accident, but those who were close to Katie aren’t buying that she just tripped and fell—including her pro-athlete boyfriend. But it’s Katie’s fitness trainer and friend who hires the McKinleys to investigate.
Anything but an easy case to solve, Sean and Sara will break a sweat trying to figure out who had the most to gain from the young woman’s death. Sadly for Sean most of the evidence seems stacked against Katie’s boyfriend—a man Sean idolizes. Can he put aside being starstruck long enough to view things objectively? If Katie’s killer is going to be caught, he and Sara will need to remain flexible and it might require bending the rules a bit.

Teaser
Sara wrote, Bitter she doesn’t pay attention to him? Ha feelings for her that weren’t returned? Jealous perhaps of Katie’s successes – or Levi?
Sara lifted her pen from the page, and tapped the end against her chin, focused on the word jealous. It was apparent from online that Mitch and David were drawn to Katie, and surely there’d be other men, too.
My Opinion
The twelfth book of the McKinley Mysteries series starts with – working out; Sara and Sean McKinley are keen on keeping in shape. Then Sara’s trainer asks them to investigate the death of a friend.
With “Exercise is Murder”, Carolyn Arnold has created the twelfth instalment of the McKinley Mysteries series. Like its predecessors, this is a very enjoyable read. Sara, Sean, and their team do their best to solve Katie’s death, previous categorised accidental by the police. “Exercise is Murder” is entertaining with a thrill, a steady read with charming main characters, secondary characters of sufficient depth. I love how Sara craves for her coffee – no matter what the case throws at her and Sean.
This book is for you if you like cosy mysteries, series, charming, and quirky characters, and sleuths who will not give up.
Recommended.
