Something cold closed around my wrists and jerked my arms high above my head. Before I registered the pain, a wet, gooey substance smelling of earth and hay covered my lips.

My eyes flew open, and I cursed my stupidity for being so trusting. A Seelie stood above me – the one with the pointy ears and canine teeth.

Fool, stupid. The lack of a door meant I couldn’t go out, not that people couldn’t waltz in. And being under the hospitality code didn’t mean I was safe, only that whoever broke it would deal with Titania’s wrath.

My Opinion

This book introduces you to Roxanne Fosch’s new task for Remo – back on Earth. New even more dangerous challenges arise and the question of ‘who is friend or foe’ is not answered easily – yet vital.

With “Heir of Fury”, Jina S. Bazzar presents us with the third instalment of “The Roxanne Fosch Files” series. This is the third – and unfortunately, the last book in the series, with a complex protagonist on a quest for answers, tasks from Remo as well as from the Hunters, while having to face unexpected challenges and enemies. The story is cleverly elaborated, comprises interesting turns, and has a  great flow. Jina S. Bazzar introduces each character with care, providing them with sufficient depth for their respective relevance. I was drawn into the story right away – as Roxanne’s invisible friend. I could easily envision the characters and locations – with amazing colour intensity. I had a great time reading “Heir of Fury”. I have to admit that there were tears when I reached the end of the book, experiencing a sadness similar to losing a friend. I fully comprehend the author’s statement at the beginning of the acknowledgements: “I never thought saying goodbye to fictional characters would be as hard as saying goodbye to a loved one. But it is, and by the time I finished typing “The End”, I was both sad and excited.”

This is for you if you like urban fantasy, likeable characters, surprises, and excellent storytelling.

Highly recommended.

About the author

Jina was born and raised in Brazil, where she had a joyful and fulfilling childhood. Soon after she graduated from high school, she was diagnosed with a chronic disease that caused gradual vision loss. She became blind at the age of twenty-three. She has since lived in the United States and Brazil, though currently resides in the Middle East.

Like most authors, Jina had always been an avid reader, a fan of the fantastic, but was denied the joy of books when she became blind. Once she discovered screen readers, she picked up the habit of reading again, but discovered that reading was no longer enough, so she started writing her own book.

When she’s not writing in the Roxanne Fosch series or her blog, she’s writing articles for Conscious talk Magazine, where she works as a columnist.

Sensing danger, I turned, searching the illuminated circle around us, trying to see into the darkness beyond. I wanted to whisper him a question, but my words were held back by his savage expression.

Diggy shifted and took a step forward. I followed, and he raised a fist in the air, a silent command for me to stay still, and I froze. He glanced back over his shoulder, placed a finger on his lips, which I thought was ridiculously funny, considering.

And he disappeared. There once, then gone. Not moved in a blur or too fast that I couldn’t follow.

My Opinion

This book introduces you to Roxanne Fosch’s new life as a hunter. New challenges arise and the question of ‘who is friend or foe’ is not a basis for easy decisions.

With “Heir of Doom”, Jina S. Bazzar presents us with the second instalment of “The Roxanne Fosch Files” series. This is the second book in a series, with a complex protagonist on a quest for the truth about a missing child as well as about her own past, while having to face unexpected challenges. The story is nicely elaborated, comprises interesting turns, and has a  good flow. Jina S. Bazzar introduces each character with care, providing them with sufficient depth for their respective relevance. I was drawn into the story right away – as Roxanne’s invisible friend. I could easily envision the characters and locations – with amazing colour intensity. I had a great time reading “Heir of Doom”. I am looking forward to continuing the story.

“That’s not where I saw you, but I bet you’re there too,” he said, a mischievous half smile playing on his lips.

“You’re all over YouTube.” He gave me a sideways glance then focused back on the road.”Considering who you punched, you’re probably breaking news,” he chuckled. “Entertainment tonight too.”

My Opinion

This book introduces you to Roxanne Fosch who is hiding from those who held her captive at a lab for several years.

With “Heir of Ashes”, Jina S. Bazzar presents us with “Heir of Ashes”, the first instalment of “The Roxanne Fosch Files” series. Please note:  There is a prequel, “The Curse”, a short read that is well worth reading as well; it provides you with useful details on Roxanne’s search for the truth.

“Completion of the bargain … perhaps an offspring would be a fitting price.” Oberon mused, and Fosch’s stomach contents curdled. “A Dhiultadh, one strong enough to power the binding stones and still live to tell. It makes me wonder, what an offspring of yours and a Seelie would create.”

My Opinion

This book introduces you to Yoncey Fosch who wants to save his brother and other clan members from a plague – whatever it may cost him.

With “The Curse”, Jina S. Bazzar presents us with the prequel to “Heir of Ashes”, introducing the Roxanne Fosch series. This prequel is a sound basis for the series, telling the story of how Roxanne Fosch came to be. The story is nicely elaborated, comprises interesting turns, and has a  good flow. Jina S. Bazzar introduces each character with care, providing them with sufficient depth for their respective relevance. I was drawn into the story right away – as an invisible and curious bystander. I could easily envision the characters and locations – with an amazing colour intensity. I had a great time reading “The Curse”. I am looking forward to continuing the story.
