Okay, this entertaining guest post has been provided by bestselling author, Sherry Soule! She is sharing a post written by one of the characters from the gripping Spellbound series, which has been recently revamped with more epic romance and suspenseful thrills. To help promote the new editions, she is doing this fun book tour to share the news with fellow booklovers. The new versions also include exclusive bonus materials and brand new scenes. Even additional scenes from the charming bad-boy, Trent Donovan!

My name is Evans and I am a part-time ghost hunter, and today I have an interesting urban legend to share!

Working with a private organization called the DarkSide Detectives—DD for short—allows me certain access to specific undisclosed reports on supernatural activity. What the DD perceives is taking place in Fallen Oaks, California is a kind of spiritual nexus. The whole town was built over what we identify as a Sheol, meaning “the place whither the dead are cited or bidden,” or “the place where the dead are ingathered.” The word Sheol appears 65 times in the Old Testament. And if my calculations are correct, the focal point is beneath the Silent Hollows Cemetery in Fallen Oaks. According to mythology, these are gateways into the Underworld, a barrier between dimensions. For these reasons, its power attracts the paranormal.

To clarify, energies discharged by the Sheol can also have strange side effects. It can be a vessel for human pain and suffering, illustrated by Fallen Oaks’s bleak and foreboding history. The only known archetype for the concept of a Sheol is in the book of Numbers in the Bible. It describes a momentary act of God by Moses and not an actual area of landscape or artefact, but I think it still refers to the Sheol.

I recently uncovered an urban legend regarding Fallen Oaks, which claims a dark sorceress essentially caused the town curse. Myth states that  a demon rose from the ashes of the women burned at the stake, during the time of the Witch Trials. They worshiped the Phoenix and were a coven of fierce witches that studied the Dark Arts.

The majority of legends surrounding Fallen Oaks are controversial and fascinating. Unfortunately, we may never be able to separate fact from legend, but one such story has been circulating for over a decade. Part of the land that the town resides upon was the site of an actual witch burning many years ago.

As a quiet community that had a high quotient of oddities, the entire town was filled with quirky and eccentric locals. All with something to hide. Due to the small size of Fallen Oaks, many of the residents were so intricately connected that their elaborate unions and rivalries went back generations.

And I realize that there haven’t been any witch burnings in the United States in hundreds of years, but supposedly, one took place about eighty years ago. Legend has it that a dark sorceress supposedly hexed the land before she was tied to a stake and burned alive. It was never made public knowledge, but the dark deed ultimately caused the town curse.

It turns out that nothing is what it seems in that idyllic community…

Fallen Oaks is not unique. Dreadful things happen frequently in other areas, too. In any case, a place can simply be insidious in origin.

However, this particular coastal town has always been considered as a supernatural hot spot, and it was for this reason that the Native American tribes came to the area to begin with. With the arrival of colonists and the epidemic that followed them, the Sheol was seemingly warped and strengthened. The Sheol’s intensification would occur repeatedly over the next two centuries, until the Blood Rose Circle tapped into its power. Although, when Darrah Broussard became the leader of the coven, and convinced the other members to summon an ancient evil to gain riches and power for themselves, they were the only people in town that knew of the Sheol’s existence.

Deadly Witchcraft. Ghostly Threats. Doomed Romance.

They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn’t even begin to describe Fallen Oaks. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch’s curse.

When sixteen-year-old Shiloh Trudell takes a summer job at Craven Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That’s where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan, and immediately becomes enchanted by his charms.

Finally, Shiloh’s met someone who is supercute and totally into her, but Trent is immersed in the cunning deception that surrounds the mysterious Craven Manor. So much so that he may lose sight of what is truly important to him. And she can’t decide whether she wants to shake him or kiss him. Yet neither one of them can deny the immediate, passionate connection growing between them.

But underlying everything is the fear that Trent may be the next victim on a supernatural hit list, and Shiloh is the only person with the power to save him…

With cryptic messages from a pesky wraith, Shiloh will finally begin to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist and decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.

Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance.
