Plot
(by Goodreads)

Join us on an epic journey older than civilization itself
Dr. Pip Lipkin has lived for 12,000 years, incarnated many times as man, woman, and even as species beyond our world and senses. But he’s here for a reason: to pay restitution for an ancient crime by working to save humanity from certain destruction. “Ascending Spiral” is a book that will take the reader to many different places and times, showing, ultimately, that our differences and divisions, even at their most devastating, are less important than our similarities.

Reviewers’ Acclaim:

“Bob Rich powerfully evokes the wounded healer archetype in “Ascending Spiral,” taking readers on Pip’s painful and insightful journey through lifetimes that serve as a shining example of how to turn misery into virtue.”
–Diane Wing, author, Coven: Scrolls of the Four Winds
“Dr. Bob Rich’s “Ascending Spiral” is a true genre-buster, incorporating elements of historical fiction, literary fiction, science fiction, and even a hint of nonfiction to create an entertaining novel with an important message.”
Magdalena Ball, CompulsiveReader.com
“The way of karma rings true for many people, and this book is a very well written and thoughtful explanation of its message. It is also an exciting, historically accurate series of linked stories that will hold the reader in his chair for a single sitting. Highly recommended.”
Frances Burke, author of Endless Time

Teaser

What craziness am I talking about? When people ask me to introduce myself, I often say I am a visitor from a faraway galaxy. At home, I’m an Historian of Horror, so Earth is my favorite place in all the Universe. Where else do you find an organized game (called war) in which intelligent beings kill each other? Where else are child-raising practices designed to damage children? And best of all, where else do you see the entire economy of a species designed to destroy the life support system of the planet? For an Historian of Horror, that’s delicious.

My Opinion

This story introduces you to Dr. Pip Lipkin, often calling himself a Historian of Horror. His reincarnation through the ages leads you to the present, stirring questions about our reality. I cannot tell you more about the story as it would spoil the fun of reading it yourself.

With Ascending Spiral, Dr. Bob Rich presents us with a thrilling journey through some darker points in history. Each time passage and/or reincarnation has its own flow and length. I soon asked myself this burning question: “When will they ever learn?” (from ‘Where Have All The Flowers Gone’, written by Pete Seeger in 1955). I had a great time reading Ascending Spiral. It is a thought-provoking and chilling read, especially if you consider the above teaser – it is chilling because it is really ‘close to home’. This story is for you if you appreciate a well written combination of fiction and non-fiction and/or if you like thought-provoking material.

Recommended!

About the author

Bob Rich (with another author page for Dr Robert Rich) is an Australian storyteller. He has had 15 books published as at March, 2013. Four of them have won international awards.
These books cover a range of topics:
The “Earth Garden Building Book: design and build your own house” was the first, in 1986. The 4th edition is still for sale, at least in Australia. It came about because Bob had been sending “how to” articles to a wonderful magazine, “Earth Garden” since 1980. One day, he posted a letter to the magazine’s publisher, Keith Smith, suggesting they write a building book together. Then he checked his PO box, and there was a letter from Keith, with the same suggestion!
His second book was “Woodworking for Idiots Like Me,” which is a collection of autobiographical short stories that’ll often raise a laugh, with each story containing instruction on some woodworking task.
After this came fiction, with increasing success. You can find out about them all at http://bobswriting.com where you’ll also be entertained with free reading.
Bob is passionate about changing the world, so it is suitable for human habitation. This is because he is a professional grandfather.
